Vandalism at Harmony Woods Prompts Warning from Volunteers

Volunteers from Andover Trees United have issued an urgent appeal to the public after newly installed signs at Harmony Woods (also known as Diamond Wood) were damaged or removed.

The signs were put up by local volunteers to help make the site safer and more accessible for all, following feedback from visitors asking for clearer guidance around designated paths and dog lead rules. The goal was to protect wildlife, ensure the site remains a peaceful space for the community, and encourage responsible use.

Sadly, the damage caused has not only wasted valuable volunteer time but has also cost the charity financially – resources that are hard to replace for a group run entirely by volunteers.

The team warns that continued vandalism and rule-breaking may force them to restrict access to Harmony Woods. This could mean fencing off areas of the site, with entry only allowed via the Public Right of Way. While this would be a last resort, they have stated they are prepared to take action to protect the space if needed.

Volunteers are now asking the community to help by:

  • Staying on designated paths
  • Keeping dogs on leads throughout the site
  • Respecting the signage and surroundings

A spokesperson for Andover Trees United said:

“Please help us protect Harmony Woods – not just for today, but for future generations of people, plants and animals.”
