Families looking for affordable days out in Hampshire can enjoy a weekend of live entertainment this summer as Whitchurch Open Air Theatre returns from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July 2026.



The popular family event will feature three exciting children’s theatre productions across the weekend, with performances taking place daily at 11am and 2pm in the heart of Whitchurch, Hampshire.
Designed as a family friendly and affordable theatre event in Hampshire, tickets are priced at just £4 each, with children aged two and under attending free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The 2026 programme includes:
• Astro Norma and the Cosmic Piano by Fladam Theatre — a fun-filled space adventure for children packed with awesome aliens, rib-tickling robots, and interplanetary puppetsaged 3–10 (55 minutes)
• Books! by Tit for Tat Circus — a high energy performance featuring acrobatics, fire-juggling, eccentric absurdity, terrible puns and, of course, booksfor ages 6–11 (35 minutes)
• The Wizard and The Mechanic by Adventure Arts Theatre — an epic tale of magic, mayhem, and unlikely friendship for children aged 5–11 (60 minutes)
Set in the picturesque Fulling Mill riverside meadow setting, the outdoor theatre event will once again bring professional rural touring theatre companies to Whitchurch. Established in 2024, the outdoor theatre event is held every two years, alternating with the award-winning family arts festival, Whitchurch Children’s Festival.
“Whitchurch Open Air Theatre gives families the opportunity to enjoy high-quality live theatre at a genuinely affordable price,” said Lucie Follett Maitland, Chair of Whitchurch Conservation Group. “Thanks to successful grant funding, we’ve been able to keep ticket prices heavily subsidised, making the event accessible to as many local families as possible.”
