The victory was not only a monumental sporting achievement but also an emotional one. The fight took place exactly one year after the passing of Charlie’s great-grandmother, Moyra King, a woman he describes as having supported him throughout his journey since childhood.

“I achieved a lifelong dream and became World Champion,” Charlie shared on his official fight page. “Today also marks one year since my Nan passed — the woman who’s supported me on this journey since I was a boy. The last photo we ever took together was when I won my European title last year. I’m gutted she didn’t get to see me bring home the belt tonight, but I know she’s looking down proud. This one’s for her. I owe it all to my grandparents.”

He continued, “Massive thank you to my team, sponsors and everyone who came out to support me — couldn’t have done it without you. I’ll probably be posting non-stop this coming week, I’m absolutely buzzing. Much love my people.”

Speaking after the fight, Charlie said, “It was a truly special night — everything came together perfectly. Winning the world title on that date felt meant to be.”

Already holding the title of WBC British Middleweight Champion, this latest triumph cements Charlie’s reputation as one of the country’s most exciting and dedicated Muay Thai fighters. His passion, resilience and connection to his roots continue to inspire fans and the local Andover community alike.
