Global Mexican restaurant brand Zambrero has set its sights on Andover as part of an ambitious expansion across Hampshire — bringing with it the potential for new jobs, investment, and a fresh dining option for the town.

The fast-growing “Feel Good Mex” brand has appointed experienced entrepreneur Sumin Lohani as Development Agent for Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Berkshire, with a mission to open up to 30 new restaurants by 2030 — including at least 20 across Hampshire.
Andover has been identified as one of the key target locations, alongside major centres such as Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke. The focus will be on high-footfall areas including town centres, shopping areas and retail parks — making Andover a strong contender for a future site.
What It Could Mean for Andover
If plans progress, a Zambrero restaurant in Andover could:
- Create local jobs (full and part-time roles)
- Add a new, modern dining option to the town centre
- Bring investment into the local high street
- Offer opportunities for local franchise partners or entrepreneurs
Across Hampshire, the expansion is expected to generate around 300 jobs, highlighting the scale of the opportunity for towns like Andover.
Backed by Experience
Sumin Lohani brings significant hospitality and franchise experience, currently operating multiple food franchise sites across the region. Having lived and worked in Hampshire for over 20 years, he understands the local market — something that could prove key when identifying the right location for Andover.
He said:
“This is a unique opportunity for both new and experienced Franchise Partners to join a fast-growing global brand. For ambitious entrepreneurs ready for growth, there has never been a more exciting time to get involved.”
Expansion Already Underway Nearby
The expansion is already gaining momentum, with Sumin preparing to open his second regional restaurant in Basingstoke this May, located in the busy Festival Place Shopping Centre. The site will create around 10 jobs and serve as a model for future locations — potentially including Andover.
More Than Just Food
Zambrero isn’t just another restaurant chain. At the heart of the brand is its “Plate 4 Plate” initiative, which donates a meal to someone in need for every burrito or bowl purchased. Globally, the programme has already delivered over 100 million meals.
This combination of food and social impact is a big part of what could make the brand appealing to communities like Andover.
A Growing Global Brand
Since launching in the UK in 2021, Zambrero has steadily expanded, with restaurants now operating in cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. Globally, the brand has more than 350 locations.
Could Andover Be Next?
While no specific site has yet been confirmed, Andover is firmly on the radar — and with expansion moving quickly across Hampshire, the arrival of Zambrero in the town could be closer than you think.
For local entrepreneurs, it may also represent a rare chance to get involved with a growing international brand right on their doorstep.
