Bowls Season Returns to Andover – But When Will the Green Open?

With spring in the air and sunshine finally breaking through, many in Andover are wondering the same thing – when will the bowls green be open?

Following a successful indoor season, Andover Bowling Club is looking forward to welcoming players back outdoors. While the final decision rests with head greenkeeper Evan Lewens, the Club is hoping to open the green at 12 noon on Monday 14th April – weather permitting.

From that point, members will be able to book rinks via the Bowlr system (a link is available on the Club’s homepage). The planned opening hours for the season are:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays: Midday until dusk
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays & Weekends: 10am until dusk

The return of outdoor bowls follows a strong season for the Club, with teams taking home both the John Ash Trophy and the Hamblin Trophy.

Ahead of the big day, the Club is holding a working party this Saturday morning, inviting members and volunteers to help prepare the green and surrounding areas.

And for those counting down the days – quite literally – the Club has even launched a countdown clock to the green’s reopening. You can check it out here: Andover Bowls Countdown Clock
