Andover College welcomed service children from the local area for a powerful and creative event last week, marking April’s Military Child Month with a celebration of strength, resilience and future aspirations.

In partnership with the Forces Employment Charity and SeekersCreate, the College hosted a special Creative Forces Day designed to support and inspire young people from military families. The day featured workshops, career support and a collaborative art project that gave students space to explore their goals and express their unique experiences.
Kelly Wales from the Forces Employment Charity led a CV workshop as part of the day and praised the young people’s enthusiasm and potential:
“Delivering a CV workshop to service children allows them to start thinking about their futures with confidence. It’s always inspiring to see their resilience and ambition. At the Forces Employment Charity, we’re passionate about providing tailored guidance because we understand the challenges service children face in education.”
SeekersCreate brought creativity to the event, guiding students through a group art project designed to spark imagination and connection. The final piece – a bold and colourful work – reflected the hopes and dreams of those who took part.
Assistant Principal Nikki Yates, a long-time champion of military-connected students, said:
“It was an incredible opportunity to celebrate and support the children of our service families. We’re proud to foster an environment where every learner feels seen, heard and supported – whatever their background.”
Andover College, part of the Sparsholt College Group, is committed to supporting the Armed Forces community and offers dedicated programmes to ensure service children are able to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
