Police Monitor Morning Drivers near Andover Following Complaints

Romsey police were out early on Sunday morning responding to community concerns about high-performance car meets near Andover.

Following reports of loud noise and dangerous driving in the Clanville area, Neighbourhoods officers positioned themselves around Weyhill with speed detection equipment. The aim was to ensure drivers were keeping within speed limits, particularly on national speed limit roads which had previously seen vehicles allegedly reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

Such speeds posed a clear danger to cyclists and other road users.

This morning, however, the situation was far calmer. Officers reported only one driver being given some advice near Ludgershall, and no tickets were issued.

A local resident commented that the disruption, noise and speeding were all significantly reduced this time. Police considered the operation a success.
