Electrical Apprentice Toby David Shines at SkillELECTRIC 2025 Regional Qualifier

Andover College is celebrating the success of first-year Electrical Installation Apprentice Toby David, who recently delivered an outstanding performance at the SkillELECTRIC 2025 Regional Heat, held at Bridgwater and Taunton College on Tuesday 10 June.

Toby, who is employed by BF Keane Electrical Contractors, was selected from over 450 applicants nationwide who completed the initial online test. Only 130 apprentices progressed to the regional heats, and just 16 competitors took part in Tuesday’s live competition – where they were tested on technical skill, accuracy, and problem-solving under timed conditions.

Toby impressed judges and fellow professionals alike by securing second place in his heat – an exceptional achievement that places him among the top young electricians in the UK.

Brian Keane, Managing Director of BF Keane, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Toby for his outstanding achievement in placing second at the SkillELECTRIC 2025 Regional Heat. Toby’s dedication, talent, and hard work exemplify the high standards we strive for, and we look forward to seeing his continued success in the industry.”

Toby has also been invited to the NET Celebration of Skills in Central London on Wednesday 22 October – a national event recognising excellence in the electrotechnical sector.

Helen Perry, Assistant Principal, Professions at Andover College, added:

“Jon and I had the great pleasure of accompanying Toby to the competition and witnessing first-hand his dedication and skill. We are incredibly proud of him and look forward to seeing what the next stage of his journey holds.”
