There may be some welcome news for shoppers and staff in Andover, as local sources suggest that the town’s Poundland store on High Street could be staying open — despite being listed for closure later this month.

According to information received by Andover Radio, the rumoured closure on 22 October 2025 may no longer be going ahead after Poundland reportedly reached a new agreement with the store’s landlord. It’s understood that the landlord had originally exercised an option to end the lease, but following further negotiations, both parties may have found a way to keep the retailer in place.
At this stage, Poundland has not officially confirmed whether the Andover branch will remain open. The company’s PR team and property department have been contacted for comment, and we are awaiting a formal response.
Posters advertising a “closing down” sale at the Andover store have now reportedly been removed, and Christmas displays have appeared in their place. Staff are said to be restocking shelves following the latest developments — a positive sign that the store could be returning to normal operations.
The last few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster for the team, who had been preparing for closure and facing the anxiety of potential job losses. For the 15 staff members, the possibility that their jobs could now be safe comes as an enormous relief.
Nationally, Poundland confirmed this week that it had reversed planned closures at three other stores — in Livingston, Porthcawl, and Musselburgh — after reaching new landlord agreements. Those stores will reopen later this month following brief restocking periods.
If reports about Andover prove accurate, it will mark another positive turnaround for the retailer, and a welcome reprieve for the town’s High Street.
Until official confirmation is received from Poundland, the situation remains unverified, but optimism is growing among staff and customers that Andover’s Poundland will continue to serve the community.
