Veterans, serving personnel, uniformed groups, and a marching band will once again come together in Andover for the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade on Sunday 9 November, honouring those who have served and sacrificed.
The parade forms part of a morning of commemorative events, giving residents the opportunity to pay their respects to the fallen.
Starting from Bridge Street, the parade will make its way through Winchester Street and Eastern Avenue, finishing at St Mary’s Church. A service inside the church, led by Rev’d Canon Peter Harwood, will begin at 10am, followed by a special ceremony in the Garden of Remembrance at 10:45am.
Wreaths will be laid by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire, the Mayor of Test Valley, the President of the Andover Branch of the Royal British Legion, representatives of the Freeman of the Borough of Test Valley, and the North West Hampshire MP. Local schoolchildren will also lay posies of poppies in tribute.
Following the act of remembrance, dignitaries will head to Eastern Avenue to salute the return parade.
Road Closures
To support the event, rolling road closures will be in place on Sunday morning:

- London Road
- East Street
- Savoy Close
- Newbury Street
Closures will be re-enforced from 11:30am to 12pm for the return parade.
During these times, George Yard and Black Swan Yard car parks will be inaccessible, and Town Mills will have limited availability. Alternative parking is available at the Chantry Centre multistorey, Shepherds Spring Lane, and Anton Mill car parks.
Armistice Day Service
On Tuesday 11 November, a short Armistice Day service will take place at the Cenotaph in St Mary’s Church Garden, beginning at 10:50am.
