A new art exhibition celebrating some of Britain’s most beloved comedy icons is now on display at The Lights Theatre, running throughout March and offering visitors a light-hearted and interactive experience.

Created by local artist working under the name Beau Oui? Studio, the exhibition features 30 unique comedy portraits, each priced at £30. The collection spans decades of British humour, showcasing characters from classic sitcoms of the 1970s through to modern favourites.
Among the recognisable inspirations are timeless hits such as Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder, and Dad’s Army, alongside more recent successes including The Detectorists and Gavin & Stacey. The artist has intentionally curated the exhibition to appeal to all generations, blending nostalgia with contemporary comedy.
Adding an extra layer of engagement, the portraits are displayed without titles, inviting visitors to guess each character. This playful approach transforms the exhibition into an interactive experience for both theatregoers and café visitors.
Entry to the exhibition is free, making it an accessible cultural offering for the local community.
The artist behind Beau Oui? Studio draws inspiration from legendary musician David Bowie, with the studio name itself—pronounced “bo wee”—paying tribute to the icon. All artworks will be available for purchase following the exhibition.
Visitors interested in learning more about the artist’s work can also connect with Beau Oui? Studio on Instagram.
The exhibition runs from 1st to 31st March at The Lights Theatre.
