The Wolversdene Club in Andover is opening its doors to local military veterans for a special day of appreciation, offering free food, refreshments and entertainment as a thank you for their service.
The club will host its Veterans Day on Sunday 8 November 2026, inviting military veterans from across Andover and the surrounding area to enjoy an afternoon of hospitality, friendship and recognition.
Doors will open at 12 noon, with complimentary tea, coffee and a selection of hot and cold food available throughout the event. The club also hopes to provide entertainment for those attending.
The initiative holds particular significance for the Wolversdene Club, which has strong historical connections to Andover’s military community.
The club’s origins date back approximately 80 years to the Andover Home Guard Club, whose founding members helped establish what would become the Wolversdene Club. That heritage remains an important part of the club’s identity, with tributes to its founders displayed throughout the building.
Organisers say the event is an opportunity to recognise the contribution of local veterans while celebrating the club’s own military roots.
In announcing the event, the Wolversdene Club said: “The Wolversdene Club are extremely proud to present to you Veterans Day. Sunday 8th of November, we will open our doors to all our local Military Veterans as a show of appreciation to each and every one of you.”
The club has also reassured veterans who may never have visited before that they will receive a warm welcome, with members happy to provide tours of the premises.
Importantly, organisers have stressed that the afternoon is being offered entirely as a gesture of goodwill, with no hidden conditions or expectations.
“There are no gimmicks nor catches. This is us opening our doors for you to come and enjoy our hospitality,” the club added.
Taking place on Remembrance Sunday, the event offers an opportunity for former servicemen and women to come together, share memories and enjoy the company of others within their local community.
Veterans Day takes place at the Wolversdene Club in Andover on Sunday 8 November 2026, from 12 noon. All local military veterans are warmly invited to attend, with food and refreshments provided free of charge.
