A 26-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested following a police appeal concerning an incident on a bus travelling between Andover and Winchester.
Earlier this month, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary issued an appeal for information to help identify a man following a report of inappropriate behaviour on a bus service travelling from Andover to Winchester.
Police had received a report that a man was seen touching himself inappropriately while on board the bus.
Following the public appeal, officers have now confirmed that a 26-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested on suspicion of an act of outraging public decency.
The man is currently in police custody.
In an update, police said: “Following this appeal, a 26-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested on suspicion of an act of outraging public decency. He is currently in custody.”
Officers also thanked members of the public who helped circulate the original appeal, adding: “Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal.”
The arrest marks a development in the investigation, although police have not confirmed whether any charges have been brought.
The investigation remains ongoing.
