Andover Campus Dance students perform in their summer Dance Show!

Andover Campus summer dance performance, A Night at the Movies, showcased an incredible amount of talent.

The dedication and hard work of the students and staff shone through in their performance and demonstrated the hub of ability, expertise and passion that the Creative and Performing Arts team nurture and develop.

After 5 weeks of hard work and practice, the students performed in The Lights theatre, the local cultural centre with a programme of comedy, theatre and dance. Situated on the college campus the facility lends itself to the performing arts department as another opportunity for students to take the stage and reach larger audiences. The Dance Show is a fantastic opportunity for Andover Campus students to come together and work towards a common goal as both first and second years perform in the show.

The evening invited guests to experience an array of dances all drawing inspiration from well-known movie titles such as, Django, Black Panther and The Hunger Games; themes of which were carried throughout the choreography, costume and stage management to bring each story to life.

Students at Andover Campus are supported by staff who focus on every student individually, offering a personalised approach to learning, enabling each student to reach their full potential. Supporting this Andover Campus is in the top 5% in the entire country for ‘Value Added’; a measure to the degree to which a student not only fulfil but achieve grades beyond their original potential.

Dance Lecturer, Alicia Barnett said: “Our annual end of year dance show was themed ‘Night at the Movies’ and was a success with the diverse dance styles and lots of professionalism demonstrated during the performance. The students worked really hard to produce an outstanding show that they should be proud of, as am I”.

The show had great feedback from the audience who thoroughly enjoyed this performance with the wide range of movies and lots of talent. We were supported by Andover Youth Dance Company who performed 5 routines with their competition team. Also, a big thank you to all the performing arts department for the continuous help to make this show happen, especially stage management!”

Well done to all those involved in this year’s fantastic Summer Dance Show from all of us at Andover Campus.
