Big screen football will go ahead in Andover

Andover Radio can confirm that a big screen will show the World Cup semi-final – if England beat Sweden tomorrow.

Global sports content and lead generation company SBAT.com which has offices in Andover have signed a rights deal with the local radio station to enable Andover to have a large screen, bar and food at Vigo Park from 5pm on Wednesday 11th July.

Calls were made on social media this week to bring a large screen to the town to show Saturday’s match against Sweden.  The suggestion of a big screen was made by local man Adam North on the Spotted in Andover Facebook page.

Within hours hundreds of people had commented on the post.  Mr North told Love Andover, “Although we planned this for Saturday, getting the necessary permissions, the infrastructure and finance in place would not be possible for Saturday.

“As England are clearly going to win on Saturday, showing England’s first World Cup semi-final in 28 years on a big screen in Andover will be epic”.

The potential for a big screen for the final if England win is also a possibility with continued help from SBAT.com.  The sports content company’s Head of Marketing Liam Benton says, “As a world leading sports content company we are excited to be able to help facilitate this first for Andover.  We are committed to helping Andover raise its aspirations and providing this facility for the town, we believe people will appreciate and prove that big things can be done here.”

Andover Radio managing director David Harber adds, “Local companies Moores Cleaning and KGF Cars, as well as newly independent town councillor Richard Rowles have all come together and contributed to make this historic event happen.

“We are grateful to the people of Andover who have supported this idea; we have taken careful consideration into every single comment across social media platforms and believe we have a happy compromise.  Come on England!”.

Licensing permissions, security and screen operators are being confirmed late Friday afternoon.

SBAT.com are currently recruiting for members of staff with experience in digital content writing, social media and web design.  For more information visit the contact page at www.sbat.com.
