Care without barriers: Naomi and Jack’s rebrand

For families caring for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, access to the right support can be life-changing. Previously Naomi House and Jacksplace, a hospice charity serving central southern England, a renewed name and focus is helping ensure that more families can receive the care they need, when and where they need it most.

The charity has helped more than 600 families over nearly 30 years, and called for a rebrand due to misconceptions and to increase awareness of Jack’s Place to be equal to Naomi’s House. Jack’s Place is the only of its kind in the south of England, a specialist centre for seriously ill young adults aged 16-35, whilst Naomi’s House cares for children from birth up to adulthood.

The hospice comments on the exploration that took place before going ahead with these changes:

“We committed to thorough extensive research with families and young adults that use our services, alongside staff, volunteers, supporters, Trustees, doctors and clinicians. Over 9,000 people were consulted for their views about our charity and misconceptions about hospices, and this was an integral foundation of the work. Young adults from Jack’s Place have been central to the design. They chose the colours, typefaces and shaped the new look and feel, so our charity now looks and feels how the people we serve want it to.”

Full lives, however short. This new strapline highlights positivity of living, while acknowledging death and dying, which is representative of palliative care.

Parent’s who’s children have visited and stayed at Naomi’s House and some later at Jack’s Place emphasise the importance of this rebrand and new streamline:

” The new strapline represents Amanda. She got told she had a short life, she was quite matter of fact about it, but she was determined that that wasn’t going to stop her doing what she wanted to do.”

– Jane, Amanda’s mum

“I wish more people knew how important Naomi and Jack’s is. The rebrand will reach out and give more people understanding of what the facilities are. This place needs to be here, forever. So, it’s really important to encapsulate everything that Naomi and Jack’s does.”

– Ben, Teddy’s dad

“For the families, we need to subtly reposition Naomi and Jack’s so that there’s not that trepidation or that fear of getting involved and benefiting from this wonderful charity.”

– Chris, Tommy’s dad

This rebrand has been made to reflect the breadth of services Naomi and Jack’s provides, and so people are clear how important it is to raise money for this much needed cause.
