Six teams gathered at a sunny but blustery Vigo Park on Monday 26 May for Andover Bowling Club’s annual Triples Tournament, competing for the prestigious Drummond-Wolf Cup.

The competition, organised by Competition Secretary Cynthia Hamilton, saw players of varying experience drawn into mixed triples. Each team played three fast-paced matches of six ends, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals.
In the first semi-final, Team A3 – made up of Rob Furniss (skip), David Hamilton and Cathy Hopwood – proved dominant with a 10-2 win over Team A4, led by Dave Taplin and supported by Tracy Howard and Jilly Ross. The second semi-final was a tighter affair, with Linda Sturt’s Team A6 edging out Team A5 (skipped by Dave Bradbury) by 6-5 after a crucial measure on the final end.
The final delivered on quality and competitive spirit, with both teams displaying determination and skill after a full day on the green. Ultimately, it was Rob, David and Cathy who triumphed 5-2 to take home the title.
There was further celebration for Cathy Hopwood, who also won the traditional “spider” competition – her first time claiming the honour.
Club President Steve Baker closed the day with a heartfelt thank you to Cynthia Hamilton for her superb organisation, and congratulations were extended to all who took part in making the event a great success.
