The event, held on Saturday 3 May, raised an impressive £12,871 for Pancreatic Cancer charities and other local causes. Mr Brewer, now a regular face in the fixture, played for the Vixens – the coaching team for the club’s female youth sides – as they faced off against the Foxes, their male counterparts.

Three Wins in a Row for the Vixens

Not only did the Vixens secure a 4–1 victory, making it three consecutive wins in the charity match series, but the day was made even more memorable as Mr Brewer once again shared the pitch with none other than Petr Čech, the legendary former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper.

Mr Brewer said:

“It’s always a privilege to be part of the John Baxter Charity Trophy – especially knowing the impact it has for such important causes.

“Playing alongside Petr Čech again was a real honour, but the best part is seeing our community come together through football. I’m incredibly proud to represent New Street and Rookwood in something so special.”

Coaching, Community and Champions

Widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history, Petr Čech brought his trademark skill and humility to the event, helping draw both crowds and attention to the important causes the match supports.

Mr Brewer is a dedicated coach within the New Street Football Club community – currently leading the Under 11s Vixens and assisting with the Ladies’ First Team. He’s also working towards his UEFA B coaching licence, one of the highest qualifications available to non-professional coaches.

At Rookwood School, Mr Brewer is admired not just for his sporting talent, but for his dedication, team spirit and commitment to the wider community.

The school commented:

“We are incredibly proud of Mr Brewer’s efforts both on and off the field. His involvement in this event reflects the very best of the Rookwood spirit – community, excellence and compassion in action.”

It was a day where football, friendship, and fundraising came together to create something truly special
