Community Spirit Shines at Andover Rocks

Councillors joined hundreds of residents this weekend at Andover Rocks—a celebration of music, wellbeing, and mental health awareness held across venues in the town.

Andover St Mary’s Ward Councillors Iris Andersen and Debbie Cattell praised the popular community event, which received vital support from a £632.54 St Mary’s Councillor Community Grant. The weekend featured live performances, meditation workshops, storytelling sessions and more—creating safe, welcoming spaces for residents to connect and explore mental wellbeing through creativity.

Cllr Iris Andersen said:

“Andover Rocks is a shining example of what happens when a community comes together to support one another. Mental health affects us all, and events like this create a space where people can talk, connect, and feel less alone.”

Cllr Debbie Cattell added:

“It was fantastic to see so many residents benefiting from the music, workshops, and support available. I’m proud that we, as councillors, could help fund such an important initiative.”

The event not only raised awareness but also helped generate funds for music interventions supporting adults with mental health challenges.

Cllr Phil North, Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, also voiced his support:

“By funding events like this, we’re not only raising awareness but actively helping residents access the support they need. It’s inspiring to see Andover come together in such a positive way, and I’m delighted our councillors could play a part in making it happen.”

With community support continuing to grow, Andover Rocks is cementing its role as a vital part of the town’s wellbeing landscape—bringing people together, encouraging conversations, and spreading hope through music and creativity.
