Local councillors recently visited the Men’s Breakfast Club at Knights Enham School to meet attendees, hear their stories, and learn firsthand about the positive impact the group is having on men’s mental health and wellbeing.

The breakfast club, aimed at men aged 20–50, provides a welcoming and safe space for participants to share their experiences over breakfast each month. The group was set up following consultation with local men who expressed a need for a place to connect, reduce isolation, and support their mental health.
Councillors Luigi Gregori, Robin Hughes, and Carl Borg-Neal attended a recent session to join the community, see the group in action, and show their support for this important initiative.
Councillor Luigi Gregori said; “Spending time with the group and hearing their stories really highlighted how vital this space is. It’s not just about the breakfast, it’s about connection, support, and knowing you’re not alone.”
Councillor Robin Hughes added; “I’m proud that the council was able to provide a grant to cover hall hire, refreshments, and volunteer training, ensuring the club can continue running for the next few months. This is what Councillor Community Grants are here for.”
Councillor Carl Borg-Neal said; “Being with the group gave me a true sense of community spirit and the importance of mental health initiatives like this. It’s a small project with a big impact.”
The club was funded by a £536 Community and Community Grant (CCG) awarded to local charity Unity, which helps cover hall hire at Knights Enham School, refreshments, and training for the volunteer organiser. The group started in September 2024 and is running until July 2025, welcoming around 5 to 10 men each month.
