The British Cane Corso Society is inviting dog owners, enthusiasts and members of the public to a special training and education event in Andover this June, aimed at promoting responsible ownership and a better understanding of the Cane Corso breed.

The event will take place on Saturday 7th June at April’s Farm from 10am until 4pm, bringing together Cane Corso owners from across the UK for a full day of interactive training, demonstrations and community engagement.
Organised by the Society after months of planning, the event has been designed to support owners at all stages of their journey with the breed. The Cane Corso is widely recognised as a powerful and intelligent dog that requires experienced handling, strong leadership and a positive relationship with its owner.

The training day will focus on building stronger bonds between dogs and owners through play and drive-based training methods. Organisers say the aim is to help owners understand how to develop behaviours through engagement, enthusiasm and trust rather than simply relying on control and obedience.
James Webber, writing on behalf of the British Cane Corso Society, said: “I am extremely excited for this event. As a breed community, it is wonderful to be able to come together for the sole purpose of enjoying and developing our dogs. I cannot wait to see everyone and meet their wonderful Corso on the day!”

The structure of the day will include an opening talk, live demonstrations, one-to-one working slots with trainers, refreshments, further training sessions and a closing discussion.
A key feature of the event is the individual working sessions, where each dog and owner will work directly with a trainer while other attendees observe and learn from the exercises taking place. Organisers say the sessions will be fast-paced, engaging and designed to encourage dogs to channel their drive and focus positively.
One of the concepts visitors will see demonstrated is “source focus” — a behaviour that teaches dogs to direct their attention towards a specific object or task. The Society believes this approach can help owners build confidence, communication and long-term partnerships with their dogs.

The British Cane Corso Society says a major part of its mission is to improve public understanding of the breed through education, responsible ownership and positive exposure within the community.
Visitors attending the event will also have the opportunity to meet members of the Society, speak with experienced owners and see the dogs in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
