Deaf Lounge Brings Deaf Community Together in Andover
A welcoming monthly social event is helping bring Andover’s Deaf community together, offering a relaxed space for British Sign Language users to meet, chat and connect.
The Deaf Lounge takes place on the third Saturday of every month from 11:00am at Vicolo Lounge.
Open to Deaf BSL users, as well as hearing friends and family members, the gathering provides an informal opportunity to enjoy a drink, breakfast and conversation in a friendly and inclusive environment.
Organisers say there are more than 25 Deaf British Sign Language users living in Andover — a significant number for a town of its size — yet many people within the community have not previously had the opportunity to meet one another.
The monthly event aims to help build friendships, reduce isolation and strengthen community connections, while also raising awareness of Deaf culture and British Sign Language locally.
Whether attending for a coffee, breakfast or simply a chat, everyone is encouraged to come along and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere.
