Foster Care Fortnight Road Trip Heads to Andover

As part of Foster Care Fortnight 2025, a nationwide campaign to highlight the importance of fostering, Andover will welcome a special awareness event at Andover Leisure Centre on Monday 12 May.

Running from 9:30am to 5:30pm, the event is part of a two-week road trip across the South of England led by Sarah and Sue, members of the fostering team at Step by Step Fostering. Travelling in Sue’s trusty motorhome, the pair are stopping off in towns and cities to meet people face-to-face and share what it’s really like to become a foster carer.

This year’s campaign theme is “The Power of Relationships“, recognising how strong, supportive connections can positively transform a young person’s life.

Sarah and Sue will be on hand throughout the day at Andover Leisure Centre to:

  • Answer questions about fostering
  • Talk through the different types of fostering available
  • Provide honest insight into the rewards and challenges of fostering
  • Support anyone thinking about taking the first step

A spokesperson for the team said:

“If you’ve ever considered fostering – even just a passing thought – come and have a chat. We’re friendly, honest, and here to help with no pressure. Just an open conversation about the real difference fostering can make.”

There’s no need to book – simply pop down to the Leisure Centre and say hello.
