Free driver training course in Andover

TVCS Minibus
Drivers wanted: TVCS Minibus

Test Valley Community Services have volunteer and paid positions plus free training for new drivers of their minibus services.

Applicants from all walks of life will be considered to help those less able to get about easily and will be given free MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training.

The next course is this Tuesday (19th September 2017).

Test Valley Community Services (TVCS) is a borough-wide charity based in Andover which provides transport services for the elderly, disabled people and other individuals and community groups.

Their transport services include ‘Call and Go’, a weekly door to door shopping service and provision of an accessible car which can be used for a range of needs like taking people to medical appointments or visits to family and friends.

Driver Mike says, ”Since I retired some 20+ years ago, I have been driving for Test Valley Community Transport. It has been the most enhancing period of my life.   I have met a whole crowd of very pleasant folk and it has been a real pleasure to assist them.”

Another driver, Kate adds, ”I have been a volunteer for nine years and I love it! I help people have great days out. I have driven to public gardens, stately homes, museums, theme parks, London, theatres, cinemas, zoos and to the seaside. I get to join in and I am now a connoisseur of cream teas!

“Knowing that I have helped passengers who may not otherwise ever go out gives me an inner smile.”

As well as volunteering opportunities, TVCS are also interested to hear from anyone who is interested in paid work with their Home to School service.
