Local joint partnership organisation Andover Vision has launched it town plans for the future.

“Your aspirations, your future, your town” is the slogan chosen by a varied group of individuals and organisations earlier this month, ahead of the official launch of the Andover Vision document.

The plans were announced at The Lights earlier today and set out a series of five key strategic areas where Andover could improve in the next 20 years.

The group made up of residents, community groups, businesses and public bodies has spent 8 months gathering information to put together a direction for Andover.  The five identified areas that need addressing are:

A connected community
A great green environment
A thriving town centre
Supporting businesses, jobs and skills
Access to great health

The document is an ambitious list of hopes and desires, collected from over 2,500 separate interviews and will set out a direction of work for the town which it is hoped will fulfill the town’s potential.  It is hoped that this final document will help raise the town’s aspirations and sense of pride in the town.

Quoting Winston Churchill, Andover Vision project leader James Moody said, “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”.  The team behind Andover Vision hope that people who live, work, study and play in Andover will adopt the clearly written direction and work towards improving life, economics, culture and pride in the town.
