Fundraiser Launched to Support Family of Teenager Killed in Tragic Collision

A fundraiser has been created to support the family of 15-year-old Ryan Marshall, who tragically died after being struck by a car on New Street on Saturday, 21st December.

Ryan, described by his mother as a “lovely, caring boy with a cheeky smile and wicked sense of humour,” passed away in hospital the following day due to his injuries.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs and is currently under investigation.

Moved by the heartbreaking news, local resident Ben Greenaway launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist Ryan’s family during this difficult time. On the fundraiser page, Ben explained: “After hearing the sad news of Ryan’s passing, we have set up a GoFundMe page in his memory, to assist and help the family through this difficult time. All donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.”

The response to the campaign has been extraordinary. Originally set with a target of £5,000, it quickly gained momentum, raising £3,000 within just two hours and surpassing £6,000 by Christmas evening. Contributions have continued to grow, reflecting the deep empathy and generosity of donors.

The funds will provide financial support to Ryan’s family, potentially covering funeral expenses and other urgent costs as they navigate this devastating loss.

Hampshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision, particularly anyone with dashcam footage from the area, to come forward as investigations continue.
