Harrow Way Invite Former Students to Join Them for 50th Anniversary Fete

Harrow Way School from 1973

Harrow Way is inviting former and current students and members of the local community to join them in their 50th anniversary celebration on Saturday 8 July from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

The school is celebrating the landmark birthday with a special fete and whether a student of the 60s, 90s, noughties or now they are promising an afternoon of fun family entertainment and a trip or two down memory lane.

Headteacher Michael Serridge explains further: “This is a very special year in our history which we would like to celebrate with students and teachers from our past through to those still at Harrow Way. We have created a Harrow Way 50 Facebook page and it’s been wonderful to read all the comments and memories being shared by former students who seem to genuinely look back on their time here with huge fondness.”

For fifty years the school has seen thousands of students pass through its doors and I hope many can join us for this celebration – who knows we may even see some renowned teaching faces from the past too!

Entry is free and there promises to be much to keep young and old entertained with numerous activities including giant inflatables, climbing, stalls and face painting. Jane Deer, Maddison Douch, Meggie Hurts and the Harrow Way Allstar Band will provide the musical backdrop.

A Harrow Way 50 exhibition will take former students down memory lane as they enjoy a number of exhibits including the headteachers log from 1967-1988, photographs, a brief history of the school and pick up a copy of the specially produced Harrow Way 50 Newsletter. They can also try and spot faces from the past in the huge mural the school commissioned as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, located within the school, which can be viewed on organised building tours.
