Hundreds of Troops Join Search for Missing Army Sergeant Alex Cairnie

A large-scale search operation is underway for missing soldier Alex Cairnie, who was last seen leaving Tidworth Camp at around 11am on Sunday, 6th July 2025.

Alex, 30, a serving member of the Queenโ€™s Royal Hussars regiment, has been reported missing amid growing concerns for his welfare. Described as approximately 5โ€™7โ€ tall, of athletic build, with mousy brown hair and a beard, Alex was last thought to be wearing a light-coloured T-shirt and black or grey trousers. He is believed to be travelling on foot.

The alarm was raised after he failed to return, prompting Wiltshire Police to launch an urgent appeal for information. A major search operation has since been initiated, involving hundreds of military personnel, Wiltshire Search and Rescue volunteers, and police officers.

Specialist teams have been deployed in and around the Tidworth area, supported by police dogs and drones equipped with thermal imaging technology to sweep local woodlands and open terrain.

Posters appealing for sightings have been distributed widely, urging anyone with immediate information to call 999. Any other relevant information, no matter how small, should be reported to Wiltshire Police by calling 101, quoting reference 214-6-7-25.

The community is being asked to stay vigilant and to check outbuildings, sheds, and rural areas for any sign of the missing soldier.

Time is of the essence in locating Alex, and authorities stress that public cooperation is vital.
