Independent Retail Success Story Celebrates 13 Years in Kenyons Yard

A much-loved independent business in Andover is celebrating a remarkable milestone this weekend as My Fab Find Emporium marks 13 years of trading.

Owned and run by Amanda Parkinson, the popular shop in Kenyons Yard has become a destination for shoppers seeking unique furniture, home décor, gifts and handcrafted items from local makers.

To celebrate the occasion, customers are invited to join the festivities on Saturday, where they can enjoy 10% off almost everything in store (excluding Frenchic products), complimentary fizz and cake, and live music from local singer Jake Ward, who will be performing from 10.30am.

Reflecting on the past 13 years, Amanda shared memories of the business’s early days and the incredible journey that has followed.

“My dark hair has certainly gone,” she joked while looking back at photographs from when the business first opened.

Amanda recalls the excitement – and panic – of her very first trading day.

“I sold around 80% of my furniture on my first day and, God, I thought I’ve got to fill it up again by Wednesday, as I only did Wednesday to Saturday in those days. I spent all hours doing it all over again.”

What started as a small venture has grown into a thriving local business and community hub, supporting other local entrepreneurs along the way.

One story that remains particularly special to Amanda involves one of her very first customers.

“The best thing is the lady I delivered to that weekend 13 years ago. Her daughter, Maxine, now successfully sells her beautiful goods in the shop.”

The story highlights the relationships and community connections that have been built through My Fab Find over more than a decade of trading.

Amanda credits both the challenges and successes she has experienced throughout the years for shaping the business into what it is today.

“What wonderful things we do for each other. I’m just in awe. Grateful for all my dips – they made me more grateful for my great highs.”

Over the last 13 years, My Fab Find Emporium has become a familiar and cherished part of the local business community, offering customers a constantly changing selection of treasures while providing a platform for local creators and makers.

As Amanda and her customers celebrate this significant milestone, the anniversary serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance, community spirit and supporting local businesses.

The celebrations take place this Saturday at My Fab Find Emporium in Kenyons Yard, where customers old and new are invited to raise a glass, enjoy some cake and help celebrate 13 successful years of business.
