Love Andover Statement: Supporting Local Businesses and Our Community

Recent discussions about the challenges facing Andover town centre have prompted us to clarify the role of Love Andover and Andover Radio in supporting local businesses.

First and foremost, we are saddened whenever a local business closes its doors. Behind every shop, café, restaurant, or service is a person, family, or team who have invested their time, energy and passion into serving our community. Their success matters to us because we care deeply about Andover and the people who make our town what it is.

However, it is important to understand who we are and what we do.

Love Andover and Andover Radio are not-for-profit community organisations. Unlike some organisations that are funded through business levies, we are not funded or mandated to provide marketing services to businesses. We exist to celebrate Andover, tell local stories, support charities and community groups, highlight positive news, and champion the people who make our town special.

We regularly feature local businesses, events, achievements and success stories, but this is often because those businesses have engaged with us, shared their news, invited us to visit, advertised with us, supported our work, or simply reached out to start a conversation. Community support works both ways.

Many businesses across Andover actively work with us. Some advertise on Andover Radio, some display our promotional materials, some play the station in their premises, and many provide us with stories and updates that we can share with the wider community. These relationships help us continue the work we do and ensure local voices are heard.

We are always happy to hear from businesses that would like support. If you have news to share, an event to promote, a challenge you’re facing, or a success story worth celebrating, our door is always open.

Everything we do is driven by one simple reason: we love this town.

For many years, Love Andover and Andover Radio have invested countless hours into promoting local people, charities, community groups, events and businesses. We do this not because we have to, but because we believe Andover deserves a positive, passionate voice that champions the community.

As conversations continue about the future of our town centre, we encourage everyone to work together constructively. Supporting local businesses is a shared responsibility, and the stronger our community partnerships become, the stronger Andover will be.
