Jacob, a determined local student at John Hanson School, is pulling out all the stops to raise £5,500 for a once-in-a-lifetime volunteering opportunity in Ecuador with Camps International in the summer of 2026.
The trip will see him actively contributing to wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and community development, with projects such as reforestation, building local facilities, and protecting endangered species.
“This trip means a lot to me,” Jacob said. “It’s a chance to make a real difference and have a hands-on role in creating positive change for communities and the environment.”
To fund his expedition, Jacob has been busy with an array of fundraising activities, including raffles, quizzes, and sponsored skating events. Additionally, he is donating 50% of profits from his business, Hot Off The Printer. Jacob is also taking on leaflet drops for businesses that have sponsored him, offering them extra visibility in return for their support.
Local businesses are invited to get involved by sponsoring Jacob or donating raffle prizes. Sponsors donating £100 or more will have their logos featured on Jacob’s expedition t-shirts and promoted on his fundraising Facebook page, Jacob’s Ecuador. Sponsors will also receive images of Jacob wearing their branded t-shirts while in Ecuador, which they can use for their own marketing purposes.
Jacob is urging the community to rally behind his efforts. “This is not just about helping me achieve a dream—it’s about supporting the vital work being done in Ecuador, from preserving the Amazon Rainforest to empowering local communities,” he explained.
Anyone wishing to support Jacob can learn more and follow his progress on his Facebook page or donate directly via his GoFundMe page.
