Laser Tag To Land In Andover Town Centre This February

The countdown is on for the grand opening of Andover’s latest attraction: a cutting-edge Laser Tag Arena at Riverside Activity Zone, scheduled to launch on 1st February 2025.

This marks a major milestone in Valley Leisure Ltd’s ambitious plan to revitalise Andover town centre by transforming the former Wilko building into a vibrant family entertainment hub.

The Laser Tag Arena will immerse players in the heart of a derelict town, blending creative storytelling with thrilling gameplay. Designed for all ages, the new attraction promises an exciting experience that’s already sparking community interest, with a surge in enquiries about children’s parties and group bookings.

Ben, Centre Manager of Riverside Activity Zone, expressed his excitement about the project:

From Bowling Alley to Family Entertainment Centre

This exciting development stems from Valley Leisure Ltd’s long-standing commitment to Andover’s community. However, recognising the growing demand for diverse activities, Valley Leisure embarked on a bold plan to expand its offerings and revitalise the town centre.

In November 2024, the trust secured a 12-year lease on the former Wilko building, aiming to transform the unused space into a hub of activity. Renovations began shortly after, with the first phase focused on creating the Laser Tag Arena. The venue also underwent a rebranding, with Riverside Bowl becoming Riverside Activity Zone to reflect its transition from a traditional bowling alley to a multifaceted family entertainment centre.

Community-Centric Development

The Laser Tag Arena is just the beginning of Valley Leisure’s phased redevelopment of the site. Plans are underway to introduce even more activities, ensuring that Riverside Activity Zone becomes a destination for all ages and interests. While details of future attractions remain under wraps, the trust has confirmed its commitment to offering something for everyone.

The renovations are being carried out by Powells, whose tireless work has brought the Laser Tag Arena to life in record time. The team’s attention to detail ensures the space is ready to deliver an unforgettable experience when it opens in February.

A Bright Future for Andover

This project is part of a wider effort to revitalise Andover town centre, and Valley Leisure’s expansion is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy. By transforming a once-empty retail space into a thriving entertainment hub, the trust is helping to bring footfall and vibrancy back to the area.

Even during the renovation period, the existing Riverside Activity Zone facilities remain open, allowing visitors to continue enjoying bowling and other activities.

Grand Opening and Early Bird Access

The grand opening of the Laser Tag Arena on 1st February will be a landmark event, featuring special activities, including a Schools Tournament, to mark the occasion. Early bird access bookings will be available soon, giving eager guests the chance to be among the first to experience Andover’s latest attraction.

This is just the start of an exciting journey for Riverside Activity Zone and the Andover community. With its creative vision and commitment to revitalisation, Valley Leisure is set to redefine family entertainment in the town.
