Local Drama Group Takes the Stage for Charity with Two Exciting Productions

The Burdock Valley Players, a long-standing amateur dramatics group based in Upper Clatford, are gearing up for an exciting 2025 season with two fantastic productions.

This year, the group will be raising funds for Andover Food Bank and Blood Cancer UK, continuing their tradition of using theatre to support local charities.

The main production for 2025 will be Calendar Girls, the heartwarming and humorous story of a group of Yorkshire women who create a unique calendar to raise money following the tragic loss of a loved one to cancer. Alongside this, the Burdock Valley Players’ youth section, BVP Youth, will bring Disney’s Moana Jr. to the stage, offering younger performers the chance to showcase their talents in a beloved tale of adventure and self-discovery.

For over 30 years, the Burdock Valley Players have provided high-quality entertainment while fostering a welcoming environment for all ages and skill levels. Meeting weekly on Tuesday evenings at Upper Clatford Village Hall, the group is always keen to welcome new members. Whether you have a passion for acting, set design, costume making, or even administration, there is a place for everyone. In addition to performances, the group hosts a variety of social events, including barbecues, music quizzes, and theatre trips, ensuring a lively and inclusive community spirit.

Upcoming Events

To kick off the year, the Burdock Valley Players will be hosting their first social event of 2025—a General Knowledge Quiz Night. Taking place on Saturday, 1st March, at Upper Clatford Village Hall, the quiz will start at 7:30pm, with doors opening at 7:00pm. Entry is £2 per person, with teams of up to eight people. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinks and snacks for an evening of fun, nostalgia, and friendly competition.

Tickets for Calendar Girls and Moana Jr. will go on sale at the beginning of March, and posters will be available online to provide more details. The Burdock Valley Players would be delighted to see both familiar and new faces in the audience supporting these wonderful productions and the charities they are fundraising for.

The group also welcomes media support and would be grateful for any promotion of their upcoming shows. Additionally, they are open to interviews during rehearsals or leading up to performances to share more about their work and their impact on the community.
