An Andover estate agent is celebrating his first year in business after leaving the high street to take a more personal approach to helping people move home.

Oliver Smith, who has worked in the property industry for over 14 years, launched his own independent venture in March 2025 with the aim of doing things differently- placing greater emphasis on service, storytelling and community.
Born and raised in Andover, Oliver says his local roots have played a key role in shaping both his approach and his long-term vision.
“Having spent most of my life here, you see the town differently,” he explains. “Every street has its own story, and every home is part of something bigger…its as much about selling the lifestyle attached to a property as it is the bricks and motar”.
That perspective has led to a clear mission: to become the most helpful estate agent in Andover.
Over the past year, Oliver has supported numerous clients through their move, while also offering advice and guidance to many others navigating the property market, regardless of whether they formally instruct him.
Alongside his day-to-day work, he has also developed a series of community-led initiatives designed to give something back to the town.
His weekly Street of the Week series, released every Monday morning, has become particularly popular, shining a light on the history, character and community behind roads across Andover and the surrounding villages.
In addition, Oliver produces regular property market updates, breaking down local housing trends into clear, accessible insights to help residents better understand the market.
Reflecting on his first year, Oliver says the focus has always been on people, not just property.
“It’s not just about the moves themselves, but the conversations, the advice and the support along the way,” he adds. “Even if someone doesn’t end up working with me, if I’ve helped them with their property plans, that’s a win.”
As he looks ahead to year two, Oliver hopes to continue building a business rooted in a genuine commitment to celebrating and helping the local community.
