The inaugural Andover Music Awards has officially been launched, marking an exciting new chapter for the town’s thriving creative scene.

The brand-new event, designed to celebrate and champion local musicians, will take place at The Lights Theatre on 13th October. Organisers hope the awards will shine a spotlight on the wealth of musical talent across Andover while inspiring the next generation of performers.
The event is being brought to the community by Andover Radio and Love Andover.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated committee has been formed to bring the vision to life. Members include Andover Radio and Love Andover’s Ben Tuffin, local musician Alun Grace, and community champion Sarah Jane Grace, more commonly known as SJ.
SJ, who currently serves as Club Secretary at the Royal British Legion Club in Andover, has long been a passionate supporter of the town’s music and arts scene. With more than 15 years of involvement in the Andover Carnival, she has played a key role in supporting one of the town’s most cherished traditions.
Her love of music began at just 10 years old when she picked up a brass instrument, later performing with Test Valley Brass. Although she stepped back from performing to raise her family, her connection to music has remained strong.
Over the years, SJ has also managed and run several pubs in Andover, including the Railway Tavern and The George, where she developed a deep appreciation for the wealth of musical talent within the local community.
Speaking about the launch of the awards, she said: “Music and the arts are vital to keeping our town alive and thriving. It’s not just about entertainment — it’s about inspiring the next generation, uncovering hidden talent, and giving people a platform to shine.”
She added that the Andover Music Awards represent “a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity, creativity, and passion of musicians right here in our community.”

Organisers believe the awards will become a key date in Andover’s cultural calendar, bringing together artists, venues and supporters to recognise the people who help shape the town’s unique sound.
Ben Tuffin said: “The Andover Music Awards is something we’ve wanted to bring to life for a long time. There is so much incredible talent in this town that deserves recognition, and this event is all about giving those artists a platform to be seen, heard and celebrated. We’re really excited to see the community come together and make this something truly special.”
Alun Grace added: “Andover has always had a brilliant music scene, but it doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. These awards are about shining a light on the artists, bands and performers who put their heart and soul into what they do. It’s a real chance to celebrate that passion and bring the whole music community together.”
With Andover already known for its strong sense of community and successful local events, the launch of the Andover Music Awards signals that music will now take centre stage this October.
Sponsorship opportunities are now available for local businesses and organisations looking to support the Andover Music Awards and be part of a landmark community event. A range of packages are set to offer valuable exposure while helping to champion homegrown musical talent.
