Over 100 visitors got the chance to visit the Countess of Brecknock Hospice’s gardens for the first time this weekend.
Despite the weather, visitors strolled through the hospice’s beautifully landscaped gardens, enjoying an afternoon filled with activities and the opportunity to support a great cause.
Over the two days, the hospice raised an impressive £2,600 through ticket sales, plant and gift purchases, and raffle tickets.
Michele Gard, Charity Director, said “We’re so grateful for everyone who’s come this weekend to support the hospice and visit our gardens. The money we’ve raised will help to ensure that we can continue to help those with life-limiting illness to receive outstanding care at the most difficult of times.”
The event featured a variety of attractions, including a plant sale, offering a wide range of plants kindly supplied by supporters of the hospice. Visitors also enjoyed a selection of tea and homemade cake, providing a perfect chance to relax and take in the serene garden atmosphere.
One of those who visited was Sue, from Andover, whose husband was looked after by the hospice.
Sue said: “It was lovely to visit the gardens at the hospice and it’s good to be able to do it while raising funds for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, who looked after my husband”.
The gardens, created by RHS award winner Fi Boyle, have been designed to be as low maintenance as possible. The plants deliver a long season of interest throughout the year. Palettes of soft whites, greens, blues and subtle pinks create calmness alongside scented plants for a sensory experience. Every room in the hospices in-patient unit has access to the main gardens.
