A 36-year-old man has been formally charged following a serious assault in Andover town centre that left another man with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to London Street at 2.53am on Thursday, January 1, after reports that a man in his 40s had been seriously injured during an incident. Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital suffering from severe head injuries, where he remains at this time.
Officers launched an immediate investigation, leading to the arrest of a suspect in connection with the incident.
Kyle Barnett, of Rydal Way, Clay Cross, Derbyshire, has now been charged with wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
He is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, January 2).
