Police have confirmed that an arrest has been made as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged fraud involving missing funds at Andover Town Youth Football Club.
In a statement, Hampshire Police said officers are investigating an allegation of fraud relating to the club’s finances, which was reported on Tuesday 16 December.
As part of enquiries, a woman in her 30s from Hampshire has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation. Police confirmed she has since been released on bail until 30 March while further investigations continue.
The update follows the club’s recent confirmation that it had fallen victim to a significant fraud, resulting in the loss of more than £30,000. The missing funds were intended to cover essential grassroots football costs, including pitch hire, match fees and referees, leaving the volunteer-run club in a difficult financial position.
Despite the ongoing police investigation, the club has reiterated that its priority remains the welfare of its young players. Training is continuing, and efforts are ongoing to ensure teams can complete the current season, supported by emergency funding and a community fundraising appeal.
The club has previously asked members of the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information, warning that this could jeopardise the police investigation and any potential recovery of funds.
Hampshire Police have said enquiries are continuing. No further details have been released at this stage.
