This week Andover Baptist Church have been inviting people who need face masks to go along to the church building on Wed 10th – Fri 12th from 9am til 12noon to pick one or more from their mask trees.
They are hoping to open up again next week once they have replenished their stocks. Keep an eye on their Facebook Page for updates.
They are size labelled for men, women and children.
The face masks are NON-MEDICAL grade and have been sewn by people in the church who are keen to practically support our local community at this time. The masks are free for anyone who needs them and they are not asking for a donation. They just want to bless our community in a tangible way.
The church building is off the Charlton Road by the Folly roundabout, and there is plenty of parking. The masks are outside the main entrance door.
They invite us to go visit and take one or however many as you need for your family.
ATTENTION, the demend and response is much higher than they expected at Andover Baptist church, so please check their facebook page to make sure they have some available before you visit them to collect.
Can you sew? Are you in Andover or the surrounding area?
This started as a relatively small-scale project to provide free face masks for the community, they have been completely blown away by the response.
The volunteer sewers from the church community are working hard to produce lovely masks for people but they cannot keep up with the demand. So,they are asking for help from any sewers out there who want to get involved. They are collecting fabric and elastic donations from people and can provide links to information about patterns so you can make them to the suggested specification laid out by the Big Community Sew project.
