The Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Gordon Bailey, is proud to announce the four charities he will champion throughout his term of office for 2025/26. The chosen charities are Green Buttercup Dementia Services, The Abel Foundation, Unity, and Andover & Romsey Foodbanks.

Councillor Bailey said, “Each of these charities represents a vital lifeline to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. By supporting them over the coming year, I hope we can shine a spotlight on their incredible work, raise essential funds, and inspire more people to get involved locally.”
Green Buttercup Dementia Services provides compassionate care, activities, and support for individuals living with dementia and their families across Test Valley, helping them to maintain independence and dignity.
“Members of volunteer-run Greenbuttercup Dementia Services are thrilled and overwhelmed that their work with people living with Dementia and their carers is being recognised in this way. The funding will ensure that they will be able to continue their activities to support and enhance the lives of such a deserving group of TVBC residents”.
The Abel Foundation is dedicated to supporting families affected by mitochondrial disease, offering grants, respite opportunities, and raising awareness of this rare but life-limiting condition.
“We’re overjoyed and deeply grateful to be chosen as the Mayor’s Charity (The Abel Foundation Mitochondrial Disease Support)—what a beautiful boost for our cause.
This support will make a meaningful difference to all the families that we work so hard to lift Thankyou 💚”
Unity is a vital charity working to connect people to services, volunteering opportunities, and community projects, building stronger, healthier communities throughout Test Valley.
“Unity is honoured to have been chosen as one of the Test Valley Mayor’s charities this year. Unity will use the funding to provide essential services to the most vulnerable residents in our communities though our cost-of-living projects.”
Andover & Romsey Foodbanks work tirelessly to ensure that no one in our borough goes hungry, providing emergency food parcels and practical support to individuals and families facing crisis.
“We at Romsey Foodbank are delighted to have been chosen as one of the Mayoral Charities for 2025/26. We are honoured that our services have been recognised as vital for our community and know that this partnership will help raise our profile for both those who need to access our services as well as helping us receive the donations we need most.”
“We at Andover Foodbank are absolutely delighted that the mayor has chosen us as one of his charities for the year. Having had the pleasure of meeting the mayor at recent events, we’re excited to work together in support of our mission to end hunger in our communities”
Mayor Bailey added, “I’m looking forward to working closely with these remarkable charities. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and ensure Test Valley remains a caring and supportive place for all.”
Fundraising events and community activities will be announced shortly. Members of the public, local businesses, and community groups are encouraged to get involved and support the mayor’s fundraising efforts.
