On Saturday 12th July 2025, four passionate local parents successfully completed the climb of Mount Snowdon in Wales, raising an impressive £1,385 (at the time of writing) for Andover Streets Ahead Football Club — a community-focused football club that provides inclusive sporting opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.

Lauren and Dan, alongside their close friends Sam and Matt, tackled the climb over the weekend of 11th–13th July in support of the club, which has become a vital part of their lives and many others in the Andover area. All four are parents to children with disabilities and know first-hand the importance of having a safe, supportive, and fun space for their children to enjoy football, regardless of their individual needs or abilities.
Andover Streets Ahead is dedicated to offering football to players from the age of five through to adulthood, supporting a wide variety of diagnoses and abilities. Run entirely by volunteers, the club plays a crucial role in helping players grow in confidence, stay active, and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of a team.
Speaking about their motivation for the climb, Lauren explained how difficult it can be for children with disabilities to access mainstream sport:
“Being part of a club is a luxury many people don’t realise is exactly that — a luxury. Streets Ahead offers an environment where our children can truly be themselves, without judgement or pressure. It’s life-changing.”
All four climbers are already deeply involved in the club. Lauren acts as the Parent Liaison, Dan coaches the adult team, and Matt and Sam coach the Under-12s. Despite having no previous hiking experience, the group was determined to take on the challenge — and hinted that there may be a few emotional post-climb photos on their Facebook page to prove just how tough it was!
The funds raised will help the club purchase much-needed equipment, provide more opportunities for players, and continue building an inclusive sporting environment for the community.
Supporters can still donate or show their encouragement by liking and sharing the group’s fundraising updates online.
Their heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has donated or offered support so far. As Lauren said:
“Together we can make positive changes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
