Meet Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Tony Cottee at Whitchurch Sportsman’s Evening

Two former England internationals are set to share stories from their careers in professional football when Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Tony Cottee headline a Sportsman’s Evening next month.

The event, organised by WSSC (Whitchurch Sports & Social Club), will take place on Friday 7 August 2026 at the Whitchurch Sports & Social Club on Winchester Road, Whitchurch.

Hosted as an evening of football stories, humour and audience interaction, the event will bring together two well-known names from the English game who enjoyed distinguished professional careers at the highest level.

Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock was one of English football’s most recognisable defenders, representing clubs including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, West Ham United and Crystal Palace. Renowned for his uncompromising style of play and larger-than-life personality, Ruddock has remained a popular figure through his television appearances and after-dinner speaking engagements.

Joining him will be former striker Tony Cottee, whose goalscoring exploits made him a favourite with supporters at West Ham United, Everton and Leicester City. Cottee also earned England honours during a career that saw him establish himself as one of the country’s most prolific forwards.

Guests can choose between two ticket options. Standard tickets, priced at £20 per person, include entry from 7.30pm.

Those looking for a more exclusive experience can purchase Premium Tickets for £37 per person, which include reserved seating, a meet and greet with both football legends, opportunities for photographs and autographs, hot food and early entry from 6.30pm.

The venue’s bar will open from 5.30pm, allowing guests to arrive early before the evening gets under way.

WSSC members can also benefit from a £5 discount on tickets purchased directly through the club, with one discount available per membership card.

The Sportsman’s Evening is expected to appeal to football supporters of all ages, offering the opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories from two former England internationals whose careers spanned some of the biggest clubs and most memorable moments in English football.
