Abacus, the Ferndown and Andover based vehicle hire specialist, is offering to donate a minibus from their hire fleet to a deserving regional charity.

Applications to receive the gift of the 6 year old, Ford Transit 17 seat vehicle, which has been fully maintained by the company’s own workshop are invited before the closing date of 31st August 2017.  The minibus is not equipped for disability transport.

Dave Wolfenden, who founded the busy family run hire company in 1985, says that his team will then be asked to vote for who they think that the mini bus should be donated to.

The minibus, with a year’s MOT and 2 month warranty is to be offered in just a plain paint scheme so that the winning charity or community project can do their own design, it will be theirs just to drive away and use to enrich the lives of the people they support” said Dave.

We would like to put something practical back into the society that has made our business successful over the decades.”

The company operates a total fleet of 700 vehicles, ranging from cars, vans, trucks minibuses, as well as a dedicated motorhome division.  100 of the older vehicles on the fleet will have been replaced by new stock over the first 3 months of 2017.

Abacus employs a team of 60 people within the Andover and Ferndown hire centres and its sister company Horton Commercials, which is a specialist vehicle servicing, bodybuilding and repair facility that will relocate to larger purpose built premises on the Ferndown industrial estate this summer.

Applications for the free minibus should be emailed to minibus@abacusvehiclehire.co.uk before 31st August.
