Need a Break from the Summer Holiday Chaos? Try This Andover Experience

Families looking for something a little different to do during the school holidays are being invited to escape the summer rush and enjoy two hours surrounded by nature and animals at The Three Bees Project near Andover.

The Three Bees Project is offering private Family and Friends sessions throughout the summer holidays, giving families and small groups exclusive use of its rural site at Little Hatherden.

Designed as an antidote to the often hectic pace of the school break, the sessions offer visitors the chance to slow down, spend some uninterrupted time together and reconnect with the natural world.

Groups of up to eight people can book the whole site for a private two-hour session, with the freedom to take part in gentle, nature-inspired activities or simply relax, explore the farm and spend time with its animals.

The sessions are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the summer holidays and cost £120 for exclusive use of the site for two hours.

The Three Bees Project, based just outside Andover, was established by Helen and Allen and has developed into a space where children and young people can learn and grow, adults can find support, and people can experience the benefits of spending time outdoors and around animals.

Its work combines nature, animals, education and wellbeing, with activities ranging from alternative educational provision and its 3Bees Club for young people to Equine and Animal Facilitated Learning.

The project also runs GOAT – Get Out and Talk – which provides an inclusive environment where people can find support while spending time with animals and nature.

Animals are an important part of life at Three Bees, including its much-loved herd of therapy goats. The project says the animals can help create a relaxed environment, encouraging relationships, confidence and wellbeing.

Its summer Family and Friends sessions take that ethos and open it up to private groups looking for some quality time together.

Rather than following a packed itinerary, visitors can decide how they want to spend their session. They can join in with gentle activities inspired by the natural surroundings or simply enjoy having the space to themselves.

The project sums up the thinking behind the sessions with the quote: “It’s a wonderful thing how the wild calms the child.”

With parents often searching for ways to keep children entertained throughout the long summer break, Three Bees hopes the sessions will offer something deliberately different – less rushing from one attraction to another and more opportunity to enjoy each other’s company.
