New head boy and head girl announced with new prefect team at John Hanson School

As Year 11 at John Hanson Community School prepare for their upcoming GCSE exams, Year 10 are stepping into their role as prefect with both trepidation and excitement!

Head of Year, Mrs Bailey said: “We are proud to have a strong team of forty two prefects with twenty senior prefects leading them. This is a larger number than usual but reflects what a fantastic cohort this year group is”. She went on to say: “We are really looking forward to working with this team over the coming year, and are confident that they will bring a fresh set of eyes to the role of prefect – their speeches certainly suggested they have lots of ideas to action!”

The students have gone through a vigorous application process, including a written application, formal interview and then a fierce Hustings process at the end of last month for the fourteen who put themselves forward for Head Boy and Girl. Maddie Day is the new Head Girl and Edward Hornby is their Head Boy.

John Hanson celebrated the success of this new set of prefects at a Presentation Evening on Tuesday 3rd May, which was one of the first opportunities they’d had since the beginning of the pandemic to invite parents in for a face to face event.

Mr Stevens, Headteacher, said “Inspire, care, succeed really was on show at this year’s prefect presentation evening. An inspiring evening, celebrating the success of our new prefect team with their parents/family, with speeches from our new Head Boy and Girl outlining their caring vision for John Hanson”.
