This year’s event brought the community out in force once again, with families, football fans and volunteers all turning up to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK 💜—a cause close to the club’s heart.
The headline moment of the day came as Premier League legend Petr Čech took to the pitch for a second consecutive year. The former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper, whose daughter plays for the club’s Vixens team, drew crowds as he made a star appearance during the main fixture: the much-anticipated Jon Baxter Charity Shield match between the Vixens and the Foxes.
And it was the Vixens who stole the show yet again—claiming a third consecutive win, this time with a convincing 4–1 victory 🦊💚🖤.
Throughout the day, the club’s youth teams competed in a series of friendly yet fiercely contested matches, with plenty of goals, smiles, and proud parents cheering from the sidelines. The sunny weather only added to the occasion, making for a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. A special match was played in memory of Emma-Leigh Ryan who has sadly passed away and played for New Street.
Beyond the football, visitors enjoyed a wide array of attractions including a charity raffle, auction, food and drink stalls, and live music performances into the evening. From coaches and youth players to dedicated volunteers and supportive families, the entire football community played a part in what was described as a “memorable and meaningful day.”
Our photographer, Daniel Ghita, was on hand throughout the event to capture the action, emotion and excitement. Also thanks to the Jamaican Kitchen team who also sent us some photos of the day.
The final fundraising total is still being calculated, and will be announced soon—but if last year’s impressive figure of £6,838 is anything to go by, this year’s total promises to be just as impactful.
