Hampshire Police have confirmed that a temporary road closure on the A303 near the Andover Portway junction on Tuesday 6 May 2025 was in response to a concern for welfare.
The incident prompted a significant emergency services presence and led to heavy delays in the area throughout the afternoon.
In a statement, Hampshire Police said:
“We received a report of a concern for welfare of a man in his 20s at the location described at 12.43pm yesterday (Tuesday 6 May).
“We attended, along with our South Central Ambulance Service colleagues. The man was taken to hospital for follow-up treatment and assessment.”
At the time, traffic was held on the westbound carriageway while police and ambulance teams responded. No further details have been released.
