Race of Remembrance Returns to Thruxton

Veterans, serving personnel and members of the wider Armed Forces community are invited to Thruxton Circuit on Friday 2 October as Mission Motorsport launches the 2026 Race of Remembrance.

The Race of Remembrance Launch Day will take place at Thruxton Circuit on Friday 2 October 2026, from 9am until 5pm.

Organised by Mission Motorsport – The Forces’ Motorsport Charity – the free multi-activity day will bring together members of the Armed Forces community, Mission Motorsport beneficiaries, supporters and teams preparing to take part in this year’s Race of Remembrance.

For those living in and around Andover, Tidworth and the wider military community, it is an opportunity to experience Mission Motorsport and the community behind one of the charity’s most important events of the year.

More than a day at the race circuit

Mission Motorsport describes its work as “Race | Retrain | Recover”, using motorsport and the automotive industry to help support the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military service.

The Launch Day at Thruxton reflects that approach.

Rather than simply being an event for spectators, members of the Armed Forces community are invited to get involved, meet other veterans and beneficiaries, spend time with the teams and discover more about Mission Motorsport.

Activities advertised for the 2026 Launch Day include:

  • Passenger rides
  • Race simulators
  • Skid pan experiences
  • Dual-control car driving experiences
  • And further activities throughout the day

Mission Motorsport describes Race of Remembrance as a “Remembrance Service with an endurance race attached” – a phrase which neatly captures what makes the event different from an ordinary motorsport meeting.

From Thruxton to Race of Remembrance

The Thruxton Launch Day begins the build-up to the charity’s annual Race of Remembrance, which takes place at Anglesey Circuit in November.

The event combines endurance motorsport with remembrance, bringing together competitors, veterans, serving personnel, beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters.

During the event, racing stops for the Remembrance service, placing commemoration and the Armed Forces community at the heart of the weekend.

For many veterans, however, events such as the Thruxton Launch Day can offer something much simpler and equally valuable: the opportunity to meet people with shared experiences, enjoy some motorsport and become involved in a community without any pressure to do more than they are comfortable with.

And this year, that journey begins just outside Andover.
