Rob Francis: A face for radio

Rob Francis Andover Radio Presenter

By his own admission, local man Rob Francis has ‘a face for radio’.

The popular bingo caller for Buzz Bingo in Basingstoke joins the presenter lined-up for 95.9FM Andover Radio this afternoon.

Rob says, “I’ve always had a fascination with all things television and radio related. From my childhood, I grew up listening to all the chart sounds on independent local radio and dreaming that one day, I’d be on the radio broadcasting to the world, and now that dream is a reality thanks to Andover Radio.

“I like to keep myself busy by helping others out. An experienced host of events like quiz nights and dog shows, I’ve used these skills to secure a fantastic job working in Basingstoke as a bingo presenter.”

In is spare time, Rob says he likes ‘the simple things in life’. I’ll have a drink in my local pub (usually of the non-alcoholic variety), a walk in the countryside and love listening to great music. I’ve also been known to sing at karaoke nights too”.

Rob understates his karaoke performance, he is one of the few people who can do powerful songs from vocalists like Meatloaf and Freddie Mercury justice.

I live in Overton, but I’ve been connected with Andover all my life”, adds Rob. “I have many relatives who live here, I worked on the Portway Industrial Estate for 18 months, and I have some great memories of days out with family and friends as a youngster. It’s a lovely town, with lots to see and do, and I’m delighted to be able to give something back to the community. I hope you’ll enjoy my show.

“Oh, and by the way, I’m not related to Grant – as far as I know!”
