Riverside Favourite The Mayfly Unveils Cosy New Look

Popular Hampshire pub welcomes customers back with refreshed interiors, improved riverside garden, a new seasonal menu and a host of festive events.

One of Hampshire’s most picturesque riverside pubs has reopened following an extensive refurbishment, bringing a fresh new look to a much-loved destination near Stockbridge.

The Mayfly, situated in Fullerton on the banks of the River Test, welcomed customers back on Thursday 29 October, following several weeks of improvement works designed to enhance both its indoor and outdoor spaces.

The popular Fuller’s pub, renowned for its beautiful riverside setting, welcoming atmosphere and seasonal British cuisine, has undergone a transformation aimed at improving the customer experience while preserving the charm and character that have made it a favourite with locals and visitors alike.

The refurbishment includes refreshed interiors, improvements to the pub’s outdoor spaces and an upgrade to its popular indoor marquee, creating an inviting setting for customers throughout the colder months.

The marquee now boasts a new heating system, attractive planting and picturesque views across the River Test, allowing visitors to enjoy the pub’s stunning surroundings in comfort even as temperatures begin to fall.

Outside, the beer garden has also received attention, with new benches, plants and lighting creating a refreshed space for guests to relax and enjoy the peaceful Hampshire countryside.

General Manager Eloise Triquart explained that the improvements were designed to build upon the pub’s existing appeal rather than change its identity.

“For us, this refurbishment was never about changing who we are, it was about staying true to our identity and becoming the very best version of ourselves,” she said.

“We wanted to create an even more welcoming, comfortable and cosy environment where everyone feels at home.”

Alongside the physical improvements, The Mayfly has introduced a new autumn and winter menu, celebrating seasonal ingredients and freshly prepared dishes from its kitchen team.

The new menu continues the pub’s focus on quality food, offering customers the opportunity to enjoy comforting seasonal dining in its newly refreshed surroundings.

Eloise added: “We are also excited to introduce our new Autumn/Winter menu, featuring fresh ingredients and delicious seasonal dishes prepared by our talented chefs.”

Festive celebrations planned for the local community

With Christmas fast approaching, The Mayfly is also preparing to welcome the community for a programme of festive events throughout November and December.

The celebrations begin on Friday 20 November from 6pm, when The Mayfly hosts a Christmas market, bringing together festive shopping, food and drinks in its picturesque riverside surroundings.

On Tuesday 24 November with a Christmas wreath-making event, giving guests the opportunity to embrace the festive spirit and create their own seasonal decorations. Tickets are limited and available through the pub’s website.

On Thursday 10 December at 7.30pm, the pub will welcome the Tidworth Military Wives Choir for a special festive performance, promising an evening of music and Christmas cheer.

The events form part of the pub’s commitment to remaining a welcoming gathering place for the surrounding communities, including Fullerton, Stockbridge, Andover and the wider Test Valley area.

Eloise said: “With Christmas just around the corner, we have some wonderful events planned to bring our local community together and make the festive season extra special.”

The refurbishment marks an exciting new chapter for The Mayfly, combining modern comforts with the traditional character and riverside charm for which the pub has become well known.

With its refreshed surroundings, new seasonal menu and a busy festive calendar ahead, the Hampshire pub is hoping to give both returning customers and first-time visitors even more reasons to visit this autumn and winter.
